Animal Rescue & Veterinary Support Services provides puppies and dogs with a
second chance in life. Since our involvement with them, we have seen them drive to
Louisiana, Minnesota and Ohio to pick-up puppies & dogs. Most of these dogs were found in
abandoned homes or cars or were living in dumpsters. Some are simply not wanted by their
owners anymore. The shelters in those areas, if there is one, simply do not have room and will
put the dogs and puppies down if ARVSS or other rescue groups don't step in. The dogs and
puppies come to the foster parents severely neglected and malnourished and generally
with some sort of health problem.

There are many breed specific rescue groups that routinely  are called by the animal shelters
to come get the purebred dog or puppy. I'm glad. However, other than ARVSS, I know of no
other rescue group in Wisconsin that will take any dog or puppy -- regardless of breed or
amount of medical need. I've seen dogs with broken legs and gun shot wounds being loved
and healed through ARVSS's care. Nobody else would put the money into these animals that
ARVSS does.

As of February 17, 2007, Jim & I have taken in a total of 8 foster dogs and puppies. We tend
to foster ones that need a more long term foster while they are on their way to recovery. Our
fosters have come from all three states mentioned above. The most recent rescues in our
home is a momma dog and her four little babies. As I write this, only 2 have started to open
their eyes. We have named the momma "Midge" and we think she is a Shepard/Doberman
mix. The puppies look like daddy was a Rottweiler. They are so little and cute. There are 2
boys, Hyde & Kelso, and there are 2 girls, Lori & Tina.

This is all possible because of ARVSS finding these puppies to put into our foster home and
we know that ARVSS will find these puppies an adopted home once they are ready. ARVSS
pays for all of the medicine and vet costs. Banfield Veterinary clinic (Inside PetSmart, East
Towne Mall, Madison, WI) provides Veterinary care to ARVSS at a reduced cost. Mound's
Petfood Warehouse provides all of the dog and puppy kibble at no cost. All the foster
parents have to do is provide love and attention to these puppies and dogs.

You can help ARVSS and these dogs in several ways:
  1. Become a Foster Parent. You can choose the dog or puppy. You can choose how
    many and how often.
  2. Adopt a rescued dog.
  3. Send ARVSS a monetary donation to help cover medications and vet bills. THere are
a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization so you can write it off on your taxes.
  4. Simply mention them when you place an order from us! We give ARVSS 5% of every
sale that ARVSS is mentioned. And, if you foster, adopt, provide vet services or
donate to ARVSS, we will also give you another %5 off of your order, just to say THANKS!
  5. Shop at Mound's for your pet needs and tell them that you appreciate them
    supporting ARVSS!
  6. Choose Banfield as your vet clinic and tell them the same thing!
