Our Cat Spot
Just days after our 4th Wedding Anniversary, I was standing in our doorway
talking to somebody and noticed a white fluffy face sticking out from under a
chair on the front porch. I immediately went outside to visit with the cat. I
soon discovered it was not ONE white fluffy cat under the chair but FOUR
fluffy cats, 3 solid white and the one you see on this page. After some
investigating I discovered that a tenant in a different apartment had
abandoned his four cats. Well, they looked hungry so I went inside and got
them a can of tuna. I spent some time with them too, of course. I nicknamed
the girls Shadow & Spook (their personalities) and the boys Powder & Spot
(their looks). It was nice weather so I wasn't worried about them staying on
the porch for the night & I was going to call the Humane Society the next
morning.

Later that night Kathy (Jim's sister) & I were sitting at my computer and
heard this horrible sound of pain from one of the cats. We went running
outside (which for me is more than difficult) to see what happened. One of the
other tenants had kicked Shadow (the sweetest of them all) across the porch
for supposedly attacking his chihuahua. She was having some neurological
problems so I took her inside, had Kathy gather the rest to bring inside and
gave the kitten a broken bone exam. She started to improve after 10-15
minutes. At this point there was no way I was letting them back outside, even
for the night, so I sent Jim to go buy a catbox, litter and food.

The next day, I called the Humane Society and told them everything. They
sent a guy to come pick up the four cats. By the time the guy arrived, I only let
him take three. I wanted to keep 3 out of the 4 but, I know the others will
find good homes - they are beautiful! They never did anything about my
neighbor.  That is disgusting!
These 1st 5 pictures are from late April 2009,
on his first day of being friendly to us.
July 2009, Spot was
playing with my
daughter, Burgundy &
my husband, Jim (you
can see Spot on Jim's
house-pants.
On day I had a cold. Spot decided to help me
with my paperwork and help me un-roll the tp.
Spot seems to really
like my side table lamps!
(Above) For the longest time, I could never figure out where Spot would
hide.  I took this picture when I finally found him. Then I tried to figure out
how he got all the way up to the top of the closet with all of my husband's
fishing gear up there. Yes, I took the fishing poles away a sort time later.
When we brought home the 6' cat tree we had in storage, guess where he
started sleeping instead? Yup the very top of the tree.
(Above) I got out the camera
because Spot was doing something
cute but, now I don't remember.
But he is still cute!
